Smoke Free Management Plan
The ACT Government has introduced new SMOKE-FREE areas at Manuka Oval from the 23 February 2008. There will be a six week grace period, which will end on 31 March 2008. The changes mean smoking is PROHIBITED:
- Within seated, thoroughfares, entrances and concourse areas (basically all areas confined within the built structures); and
- Within five (5) metres of all entrances into buildings, grandstands or the concourse level.
- Signage has been installed in all areas at Manuka Oval informing patrons whee smoking is and is not permitted. Smoking will be allowed only in the outer ground, i.e. forecourts, with bins to extinguish cigarette provided at signed strategicocations.
Non- smoking areas will be monitors to enforce the Smoke- Free message. Car Parks and grounds are excluded under these changes.
A six week grace period from 23 February until 31 March 2008 is to allow patrons to understand the new changes. Patrons will be advised by Manuka Oval staff to move to the permitted smoking areas.

How will Manuka Oval patrons be informed of the new restrictions?
Manuka Oval will display signage advising patrons where smoking is and is not permitted. Smoke- Free messages will be actively advertised by the ground announcer and through audio- visual messages. The ACT Government will advice the public of these new changes through media. In addition, Manuka Oval staff will advise patrons of the smoking restrictions.
When will the restrictions commence?
Smoking restrictions will commence on 23 February 2008, with a six – week grace period. No tolerance policy will commence from 1 April 2008.
What happens if a patron refuses to comply with the restrictions?

Who will enforce the ban?
Venue and security staffs have the authority to remove patrons and prohibit entry if patrons refuse to comply with the Smoke- Free restrictions.

Smoking is only permitted in the outer grounds, i.e. forecourts, with bins to extinguish cigarettes provided at signed locations.
